It is such a vulnerable thing to make a thing and put it in the world and it doesn’t matter how many times you do it, it’s a new experience every single time, and every single time it has an unknown outcome, and every single time it’s scary.
3.
One of the things I’ve been thinking about recently is the fact that for most improvisors, most of the conversation around improv is about the creative persons intent and this desire to tap into something of themselves and express it and very little of it is about the audience and their place within that and their experience of that and we kind of see them as this sort of… again it’s kind of weird because when interviews go on about improvisors they go yeah well the audience influences what was going on, but they don’t talk about getting into dialogue about that and I want to talk to my audience about that so I’m very responsive to who’s in the space.
4.
Most of us fail in life because we are afraid of what everyone around you is thinking. That’s 100% truth. Fuck people. One thing you have to learn early in life, I didn’t learn this till later on, I don’t give a motherfuck, you can’t care what anybody thinks about you. If I cared what people thought about me, do you think I’d be yelling out here, doing a 105 pound ruck, talking shit, this is who I am. Find out who you are, own that motherfucker, and tell people to go fuck themselves.
5.
When you talk to people there are people who are making and doing very interesting things. And then there’s people who want to be making and doing things. And they have ideas and they have inspiration and they’re not making those things so of course I immediately start to grill them as to why they are not making those things and they always have really articulate reasons for why they aren’t doing that work. And the reasons are real, because the reasons are always real. There’s financial difficulties, there’s family problems, there’s questions of time, living in the wrong city, having the wrong training, not having the right collaborators, there’s always very good reasons that they can lay out almost like a legal document about why they are not engaging in their creativity. But when I start to scratch at those reasons, in’s always fear.
6.
Do the thing you're afraid to do. (I mean this one you probably don't need to read the lyrics on, it's pretty fucking easy to hear).
7.
Mainstream media is the same thing right? It’s not like there’s this huge difference between what the mainstream media shows and what social media, they are both emotional media, they are both just trying to make people emotional. Which is the worst possible thing, no one makes good decisions when they are emotional.
8.
Don’t stop. Never stop learning. Always reach out to better yourself. Because when you do that things expand. You understand more. You’re happier, you’re healthier.

about

In 2021 I needed a change. During one of the gaps between lockdowns, a friend built a bed in the back of my Honda Jazz (Honda Fit for you 'Muricans) and said get busy living.
Out of excuses, I set off on a quest to live a simple, creative life, playing improvised music in random outdoor locations.
These are some of those songs from that experience.
